Aos 28 anos, Guilherme nunca conseguiu se firmar no Grêmio, que foi o clube que o projetou para o futebol. Natural de São Paulo, o atacante se transferiu para as categorias de base do clube gaúcho após se destacar no Cotia FC. E ainda que tivesse atuado pela equipe profissional dos Imortal, acumulou empréstimos, tendo passado por: São José/RS, Botafogo, Chapecoense, Coritiba e, por último, o Fortaleza, em 2023.

Guilherme Augusto também tem experiência internacional. Entre 2019 e 2022 atuou no futebol árabe, defendendo o Al-Faisaly, da Arábia Saudita, e, posteriormente, o Al-Dhafra, dos Emirados Árabes Unidos.

One Milwaukee fan made an interesting life decision Wednesday to attend Game 2 of the Brewers' wild-card series against the New York Mets at American Family Field.

Wearing a Brewers visor and holding a onesie, the fan's sign revealed that he was attending the playoff game despite his first baby being due Wednesday. The bottom of the sign read, "P.S. Thanks honey."

Of course, this all could be in good fun and not reality. But ESPN announcers Boog Sciambi and Doug Granville were not having it.

"Wow, that's love right there," Sciambi said. "I'm assuming he's going to get a phone call if necessary and will bolt out of here."

The Brewers, facing elimination in Game 2, put on an entertaining display for that fan on Wednesday night at American Family Field. Despite trailing 1-0, 3-1, and 3-2, the Brewers fought back and took a 5–3 lead in the bottom of the eighth.

That task seemed tougher still when Aldridge struck twice in four balls, bowling Moores for 5 and having Patterson-White caught at long off by Rhodes for 8.Parkinson conceded 19 runs off his next over as Outlaws dispensed with any scrap of caution but Sams was bowled by Sowter for 9. With seven overs remaining, 76 runs were still required and that was reduced to 61 off six thanks to Montgomery taking 14 off three deliveries from Parkinson.Aldridge took his fourth wicket when he had Harrison caught at backward point by Clark for 7 and Stone was run out for nought next ball after a complete mix-up. Aldridge completed his career-best figures when he had Montgomery caught behind by Ollie Robinson for 41.

And in a new report from Spanish publication Vinicius is now "seriously considering leaving" due to a perceived lack of trust from Alonso. The report claims that the former Flamengo forward does not believe his past achievements are being respected by the Real head coach, having scored 111 goals in 336 appearances since joining Real in 2018. Vinicius has lifted 14 trophies with Los Blancos, including three La Liga titles and two Champions League crowns.

The report also claims that Vinicius’ anger to being substituted has not gone down well with the Real hierarchy, who are believed to be fully supportive of Alonso’s decision. Having played for the club between 2009 and 2014, lifting five major honours including the 2014 Champions League, the 43-year-old returned to the club in the summer after replacing Carlo Ancelotti as manager.

The report concludes by saying that while Vinicius – who is contracted to Real until 2027 – does not want to leave, he feels he will be left with no choice but to seek pastures new if Alonso does not “back” him in the same way he has done with in-form forward Kylian Mbappe. Yet it was a tough night for Pedro who arrived as a substitute in the second-half as Maresca sought the security of a second goal. The Brazilian went into the book within minutes of his arrival and then received another yellow card with just seconds remaining for a high boot.

Pedro raised his hands to supporters as he walked off the pitch, seemingly by way of apology, but his actions have certainly not gone down well with supporters.

Chelsea fan @StamfordBrigade posted on X: “Unforgivable for Joao Pedro. he has an attitude problem. he came on in 60th minute. unforgivable to get 2 yellow's as a sub.”

Supporter @KatlegoPodile also criticised the Brazilian: "Joao Pedro is unnecessary dirty man. Elbows players for nothing lol. That second yellow was soft though."

There was some sympathy for Pedro from @DONeill90 who posted: “Joao Pedro has been sent off for an elbow that wasn't and a high foot that made no contact with the player. Misses the Ajax game as a result. What a joke.”

But @CFCKhris wasn't surprised to see Pedro sent off, posting: "I knew Joao Pedro red card wasn’t long before it came. Otamendi kept working on him, intentionally provoking him and it worked."

And @Itengozi called on Chelsea to sanction their summer signing: "Fine Joao Pedro and fine him hard. This is no longer funny. You cannot have 3 consecutive red cards in as many games."

Yet another red card for Chelsea

Chelsea's disciplinary record does not make for good reading this season, with Pedro's red card meaning the Blues have now had players sent off in three of their last four games in all competitions. Maresca's side saw Trevoh Chalobah see red last time out against Burnley, while goalkeeper Robert Sanchez was handed his marching orders early on in the defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford. 

The incidents saw Maresca urge his players to stop making such mistakes ahead of the match-up with Benfica, telling reporters: "For sure, you can't continue to make mistakes. They are game-changing mistakes. After that, we try to adjust with Josh [Acheampong] inside after being ill for a week. Our two central defenders were Josh and Jorrel [Hato], who do not have many games in the Premier League."

Meanwhile, former Arsenal defender and television pundit Martin Keown feels the sendings off could prove costly. He told TNT Sports: "It's ill discipline and that's something you have to eradicate. It's going to cost you eventually."

Maresca reacts to Pedro's sending off

Maresca was quizzed on Pedro's red card but made light of the sending off after the final whistle. He told TNT Sports: "The good thing is that we are improving, now we can win with 10 players! I think he didn't touch, the second yellow card he didn't touch, but probably the dynamic, the foul is a dangerous one and they gave him a red card."

The Chelsea boss was also happy to see his side pick up their first Champions League win of the campaign: "The effort was very good. The first half I think we were much, much better compared to the second half. We created some chances, we scored a goal. Then second half we dropped a little bit but the effort of the team was very, very good."

The Gers are edging closer to the start of the new Scottish Premiership season, with new manager Russell Martin no doubt dreaming of winning the title over Celtic in his first season in charge.

Top-quality signings will be needed in that respect, and it looks as though a loan move for Tottenham teenager Mikey Moore is now close to being completed, which promises to be an exciting piece of business.

At just 17, Moore is a highly-rated winger who could be such an eye-catching performer for Rangers, with James Maddison even comparing him to Neymar: “From minute 45 to 65 I thought we had Neymar on the left wing. He was brilliant. Just demanding the ball and fearless. [He has] that young, fearless mentality and you never want to take that away from him. He’s a young kid, a brilliant lad, a lovely boy.”

While much focus at Ibrox is rightly on new signings, there are current players who could depart this summer, including Hamza Igamane. Now, a key update has emerged regarding another individual.

According to a new claim from RTI Esporte [via Sport Witness], Rangers midfielder Jose Cifuenes is in talks with Sport Recife over a move away this summer.

The 26-year-old has been frozen out by Martin, not playing a part in pre-season at Ibrox, and he is keen on securing an exit before the new season gets underway.

It feels like the right decision for all parties to allow Cifuentes to move on this summer, especially as his manager clearly doesn’t consider him an important part of his plans moving forward.

The Ecuadorian is a good footballer, though, so there is always a potential risk in allowing him to leave, with former Gers manager Michael Beale praising him in the past.

“He is clearly a talented player and the more he plays, the more people will be aware of that. He is a player we brought in with high hopes for and this gives him an opportunity to have a run in the team now.”

If Cifuentes does leave Rangers, he will depart with only 20 appearances to his name since arriving from Los Angeles FC in 2023, which is disappointing, and it may simply be looked back on as a signing that didn’t work out, despite moments of quality thrown in.

Manchester United have been known to splash the cash over recent years, forking out £600m under the guidance of former boss Erik ten Hag, but more money looks set to be spent during this window.

Current manager Ruben Amorim has already spent nearly £100m since taking the reins back in November, with Patrick Dorgu and Matheus Cunha two of the additions made since his arrival.

However, there’s no denying that added funds will need to be spent this window if the club are to rise up the Premier League table and prevent a repeat of last season, which saw the side finish in 15th place.

The Red Devils have now gone over a decade without a league triumph, something that Amorim has been tasked with changing, but it’s safe to say it will be a long-term project to transform the side.

Money will need to be spent to back the 40-year-old in the market, leading to numerous names being mentioned as potential targets for the ongoing window.

The latest on United’s hunt for new additions this summer

Over the last couple of days, striker Ollie Watkins has emerged as a potential addition to the side, after United made contact with Aston Villa over a move for the England international.

He’s not the only forward who’s been on their radar in recent days, with talks also being held with Chelsea over a move for French forward Christopher Nkunku.

However, key work has also been done in the midfield department, with the Red Devils making huge strides in a deal for PSG’s Fabian Ruiz, according to one Spanish outlet.

The report claims that Amorim’s side has a €50m (£43m) offer ‘on the table’ for the Spanish international, who won the Champions League with Luis Enrique’s side at the end of last season.

It also states that the 29-year-old could be open to a potential move to Old Trafford, with the hierarchy seeing him as a crucial part of the puzzle in their quest for future success.

Why United’s £43m target would be perfect for Mbeumo

Bryan Mbeumo is a player who’s been firmly on their radar on United’s radar over the last few weeks, with the saga showing no signs of coming to an end soon.

The Brentford star has been the subject of two separate bids from Amorim’s side, with their latest offer of £55m plus £7.5m in add-ons being rejected by Keith Andrews’ men.

However, the Cameroonian, who scored 20 league goals last season, has previously stated his desire to move to Old Trafford, but he could end up staying at the GTEC beyond the summer window.

It’s expected that the Red Devils are to return with another offer, which could see them get closer to the Bees’ asking price, potentially putting an end to their summer-long pursuit.

Given his record in front of goal, he will likely hand the club the needed threat they’ve been hunting for, but he would certainly be aided in his attempts with a move for Fabian.

When delving into the Spaniard’s stats from the 2024/25 campaign in Ligue 1, he possesses a lot of talents that would see him star alongside Mbeumo at Old Trafford.

Fabian, who’s been labelled “phenomenal” by journalist Zach Lowy, has registered 9.6 progressive passes per 90, and 2.2 progressive carries per 90, showcasing his ability to take the ball into forward areas.

He also notched 1.7 key passes per 90 and completed 7.3 passes into the final third, having the tools to provide the likes of Mbeumo ahead of him with the opportunity to thrive.

The Spaniard has also thrived without the ball, winning 1.7 tackles per 90, and making 1.3 clearances – handing Amorim the perfect box-to-box option within his 3-4-2-1 system.

It’s unclear if the French outfit would accept the rumoured proposal for the midfielder, but it’s clear that he has the tools to thrive under the 40-year-old at Old Trafford.

The prospect of Ruiz linking up with Mbeumo at the Theatre of Dreams is certainly an exciting one, potentially having the ability to catapult the club one step closer to the top end of the table.
