Man Utd fans think Rashford would be a better coach than Solskjaer after comments

In one of the more dramatic games of the Premier League this season, Manchester United thought they had clinched a remarkable victory against Sheffield United on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils found themselves 2-0 down, before a second-half rally saw them go 3-2 in front. However, having thought they had snatched victory from the jaws of defeat, the Blades equalised in the dying moments of the game.

Speaking after the match, Marcus Rashford delivered an encouraging verdict on his side’s comeback, he said: “The manager knows when we play on front foot we’re a good team. The three goals is the response we managed to give. We have to keep pushing though – if we kept going then perhaps we would have got the win.”

After hearing the England international’s comments, United fans flooded to Twitter to voice their thoughts on the forward.

Many supporters of the Manchester side insisted that Rashford would make for a better manager than Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and that he is slyly taking a dig at the Norwegian.

Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford has delivered an ominous warning to the rest of the Premier League about his potential.

Everton’s predicted XI vs Tottenham Hotspur

Both Everton and Tottenham Hotspur are in worrying form at the moment, making this game a must-win for both sides. It’s tough to see who is under more pressure out of Mauricio Pochettino and Marco Silva at the moment, as a loss for either of them would send them closer to the relegation zone.

However, Everton restored themselves to winning ways in midweek, with a convincing 2-0 victory over Watford in the EFL Cup. Although, this came just days after the club endured their sixth league defeat of the season in a 3-2 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion.

Now, with the visit of Spurs, Marco Silva is expected to ring a few changes to the side from that midweek win.

Three changes are expected for Everton with the back four likely to return to what it was at the Amex Stadium. This comes after Yerry Mina was brought against Watford on Tuesday.

Silva did state that the Colombian trained with the team, however, considering he came off injured again, it’s perhaps time for him to rest. This could, therefore, keep Mason Holgate in the side – the 23-year-old scored against the Hornets.

Another notable change Silva could make is the return of Djibril Sidibe in replace of Seamus Coleman. The Irishman has been in poor form lately, picking up two red cards in 10 days during October.

In midfield is where the manager has struggled to piece together a proper winning recipe. In recent times, Silva has gone with Tom Davies and Morgan Schneiderlin, both of which have struggled during parts of the season.

Schneiderlin’s dismal 6.07 rating so far and Davies’ slender 200 minutes in the league should force in Fabian Delph alongside Gomes – the Aston Villa man has averaged 2.5 tackles per game for the Blues.

Up top, Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s goal against the Seagulls was his fifth of the season and he deserves to keep his spot as a result. Elsewhere, Richarlison scored against his old side in midweek and remains a threat in front of goal – the Brazilian now has 18 goals for the club.

One man who has had a resurgence recently is Theo Walcott. The winger has two assists in his last three games and should keep his place as a result of the injury to Bernard.

Birmingham midfielder Ivan Sunjic has just given Pep Clotet a big dilemma

This article is part of Football FanCast’s The Chalkboard series, which provides a tactical insight into teams, players, managers, potential signings and more…

At times this season Ivan Sunjic has been a pillar of solidity in Birmingham’s midfield.

He’s been a combative force that’s rather helped Pep Clotet settle into life at St Andrew’s.

The Spaniard has had a topsy-turvy campaign in charge of Blues so far, but whichever way you look at it, it might become even tougher on Tuesday night.

They came away from their encounter against Leeds with one major negative – the fact that Sunjic won’t be able to play in midweek.

On the chalkboard

Sunjic picked up a yellow card for a rather rough challenge on Gjanni Alioski on Saturday and consequently picked up a suspension for an accumulation of five cautions.

The Croatian has never been one to shy away from the challenge and that was evident in the 2.3 tackles per game he’d made before their trip to Elland Road, via WhoScored.

But they’ll have to make do without him for their next clash, something that will present a major dilemma to Clotet.

Birmingham have a vast array of options in the middle of the pitch so whether they do actually miss him remains to be seen.

Jude Bellingham has burst onto the scene in midfield this term with two goals while another teenager in Odin Bailey is also an option at the manager’s disposal.

Who he chooses to go with is sure to spark debate and he could well be scratching his head in the lead up to kick-off.

Josh McEachran has yet to play since being signed following a trial period, but other choices lie in Gary Gardner and David Davis.

The latter would likely be the more natural replacement considering the number of tackles he makes.

A substitute at Elland Road this weekend, he made eight successful challenges across matches against Bristol City and Nottingham Forest earlier in the season.

However, Clotet may prefer more creativity, especially playing against a side not as highly placed in the table as Leeds.

Bellingham is likely to play but fielding the more attack-minded Bailey beside him could be a gamble given their age. McEachran is also short on match fitness so that’s another risk facing Clotet.

Only one man can replace Sunjic in the side but it’s a decision that Birmingham’s Spanish head coach might have to mull over for a while.

Man City fans react to Trevor Sinclair’s media agenda comments on talkSPORT

Manchester City fans have joined Trevor Sinclair in stating that there is a media agenda against the club after the John Stones incident with Pep Guardiola.

The Spaniard was seen screaming at Stones to get ready as reports across the UK seem to suggest that there is friction between the two.

Guardiola was visibly angry with the centre-back, but Stones told BT Sport after the game (as quoted by The Mirror): “I had them [shin pads] on but I just needed to fix them up properly. Time is of the essence and that’s what he wanted.”

Fans have been quick to jump in on the story and state that there is a slight bend in the approach to their coverage. Certain fans believe that the media “does not like Pep and City”, whilst another supporter claimed it is a “worldwide agenda”.

Sinclair told talkSPORT: “Anything that Pep does or anything that Manchester City players do, the media are all over them,” he said.

“I don’t think it’s a story. That’s why I’m saying there’s some kind of agenda.”

In truth, it was a nothing story, as Guardiola has shown many times down the years to be of the aggressive sorts.

Shouting at his players to get ready as an injured man leaves the pitch is an everyday occurrence for any manager. The boss will ultimately want his players stripped and ready to go as soon as possible.

Perhaps if this wasn’t City, it would not have been covered the way it has.

At least, that’s what some City fans believe…

Everton reminded exactly what Theo Walcott can offer Marco Silva

This article is part of Football FanCast’s Opinion series, which provides analysis, insight and opinion on any issue within the beautiful game, from Paul Pogba’s haircuts to League Two relegation battles…

If you hadn’t realised Theo Walcott had turned 30 on 16 March earlier this year, you would understandably be forgiven. The winger feels like he has been in the Premier League for ever, such was the early rise in his career.

The Southampton academy product was seen as the next big thing when he was named in England’s World Cup squad in 2006 as a fresh-faced teenager, but the 5 foot 9 man has arguably been the victim of too much hype and expectation.

The indoor football skills in the video below have to be seen to be believed…

To all intents and purposes, he has enjoyed a pretty impressive career in English football’s top-flight – after all, he has 73 goals and 54 assists in 327 games in the competition. But having made the decision to join Everton in the summer of 2018, there may have been concerns his career is on the decline.

His start to the current campaign has been less than auspicious, failing to score or assist at all. But his performance against West Ham on Saturday afternoon delivered a timely reminder to the Toffees that he still has plenty to offer. Lining up on the right-hand side of Everton’s attack, Walcott looked a constant threat with his pace in behind, and incisive movement.

His finishing was slightly erratic (he had seven total shots on goal without scoring), but almost set the house on fire when his thundering volley cannoned off the cross-bar in the second-half. Whilst he went luckless in terms of finding the back of the net, he always showed a willingness to create for others – registering an assist and providing two key passes.

If Silva persists with Alex Iwobi and Bernard in his side – both silky smooth players but not blessed with a searing amount of pace – then Walcott can provide them with a truly unique attacking outlet. The Toffees can play on the counter-attack more, and give their more creative players the chance to play balls in behind the opposition defence for the ex-Gunner to run on to.

Walcott was once rather cruelly criticised for not having a “football brain”. He may not have scored against the Hammers at the weekend, but he certainly showed he has the intelligence and quality to still be a key part of a Premier League side.

[Image] – Lionel Messi finally returns to action for Barcelona

Barcelona drew 0-0 with Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League earlier this week.

Facing Borussia Dortmund is already hard as it is but facing them at Signal Iduna Park in front of the roaring crowd of the Yellow Wall makes it that much more complicated.

For that reason, maybe exiting that clash with a point under their belts is not the worst thing to happen to the Spanish club in recent times. After all, they’ve had worse in the ongoing 2019/20 La Liga campaign.

Watch Spanish Football Live Streams With StreamFootball.tv Below

The Blaugrana have so far chalked up two wins, one draw and one defeat to their names in their domestic competition back in Spain and even though the blame gets shared around the locker room, one specific issue was also pretty apparent – there was no Lionel Messi up until this point in time.

Barcelona’s talisman has been injured for six weeks. For that reason, the Argentine has missed all four of Barcelona’s initial La Liga clashes and has made his first appearance of the season at Signal Iduna Park.

By all means, after waiting through Messi’s 115-day battle with injuries, the fans surely must’ve felt relieved to see him back on the pitch and that image of the King returning back into action must’ve felt really good for all Blaugrana fans.

Still, even though it is Messi we’re talking about and even though we all know how good of a player he actually is, his cameo appearance in Germany wasn’t enough to nudge Barcelona towards a triumph and all three points on the night.

The two teams, therefore, shared the spoils of war and settled for a draw, a result that the home team might frown upon seeing how they missed a penalty along with a plethora of other opportunities during the game.

Even with a certain Argentine on the pitch, the Catalans couldn’t do much to threaten the German team but even the arguably greatest player of all time should be given some slack and time to get to his brilliant best.

Currently, the only important thing for Barcelona and their fans is that Messi is back and that he’s fit to continue.

Everything else, knowing him, should follow suit.

Arsenal should play Sead Kolasinac to target Tottenham’s weak right side

[ad_pod ]

Arsenal face Tottenham this weekend in their fourth game of the season, and it is a fixture that could potentially have huge implications on the race for the top four. To give them the best chance of taking all three points, the Gunners should make one change in particular to the backline.

On the chalkboard

The Gunners faced Liverpool at Anfield in the last game, and were easily dispatched 3-1. Of all of the Gunners’ players, Nacho Monreal had perhaps the worst performance of all with a rating of 5.77.

Whilst his defensive performance left a lot to be desired – 0 tackles against the likes of Mohamed Salah is unlikely to be of aid to your team – he was particularly disappointing going forward. No dribbles, no key passes and just one attempted cross is ineffectual to say the least.

Spurs will be an entirely different proposition. And, whilst they are still a top side – they made it to the Champions League final last term, after all – they will likely be short on confidence after a poor 1-0 loss to Newcastle. As such, Unai Emery and co should be targeting one area of the pitch in particular, and one change can help them to do just that.

Check out fan reaction to Liverpool 3-1 Arsenal in the video below…

Kolasinac can take advantage of weaker right side

Against the Toon, Mauricio Pochettino set up his side in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Heung-Min Son, Erik Lamela and Lucas Moura in an attacking midfield three behind striker Harry Kane. Son impressed with a 7.07 rating on the left and deserved more for his efforts, but there were issues surrounding the other two of the triumvirate.

Both of their heatmaps indicate that they spent most of their time in the middle of park, leaving the right open far too often. Joelinton’s goal showed that. Newcastle were allowed to progress on the left-flank of the pitch far too easily, and Christian Atsu was able to pick out the former Hoffenheim forward with a simple chipped pass. It is also clear that, on the few occasions Steve Bruce’s team did attack, they attempted to play down the left rather than the other side.

Kyle Walker-Peters is inexperienced and did not look good with a WhoScored rating of 6.39 in the last match. He may be unable to play due to injury, which would leave Serge Aurier, who has been linked with a move away from north London, as the only other option.

It is therefore clear that the right-side of Spurs’ defence is weaker, and the best way to target that is with the inclusion of Sead Kolasinac. The Bosnia international is clearly a better attacking option than Monreal. Last season, he racked up five assists, and was better in every single offensive department – 0.4 shots per game to 0.3, 1.3 key passes per game to 0.5 and 0.5 dribbles per game to 0.3.

As such, the former Schalke man is the better choice to target Spurs’ Achilles heel, and he can help the Gunners get back on track after last weekend’s setback.

Is Dinamo Zagreb’s Nikola Moro the new Luka Modrić?

[ad_pod ]

Croatia have had their fair share of footballing superstars in the past. Of course, many are familiar with the likes of Davor Šuker, Zvonimir Boban, Robert Prosinečki and more recently, Luka Modrić, Ivan Rakitić and Mario Mandžukić.

These are just some of the talents that sprung out of a little country with a total population that barely exceeds four million inhabitants.

And it’s not just footballing individuals that shine but the country’s national team as a unit as well. We don’t have to look further than the World Cup in Russia where “Vatreni” or in a loose translation “the fiery ones”, ended up clinching the silver medal, only falling to the eventual winners France. Going back in the past, they did a similar thing in 1998 when they finished third.

But as much as Šuker or Prosinečki had their heirs in the form of these modern superstars we mentioned, who exactly is in line to take the torch from Modrić, Rakitić and co.? Well, a couple of names spring to mind and among them is certainly Dinamo Zagreb’s Nikola Moro.

Moro currently plays his football for the country’s most successful football club, Dinamo Zagreb. And ever since his emergence to the scene just a couple of years back, he has been a player of incredible talent. Some of his best traits include – but are not limited to – versatility, creativity, ball control, technical prowess and passing play. Let’s try and dissect them further.

What stands above anything else is Moro’s passing. For a 21-year-old midfielder, he is already well-developed in this area. Just a quick glance at Wyscout’s database shows us that overall, in all competitions and seasons, he achieved 83% passing accuracy while playing 4.74 long balls per game, 60.7% of which hit their mark.

What is particularly telling is how forward-thinking his passing tends to be.

He sends an incredible 10.82 passes into the final third, 2.96 into the box and plays 1.33 through balls per game. And this is exactly where his quality really comes to light. Let’s take a look at how that usually goes down on the pitch.

Moro usually likes to be the creative spark of the team, often playing as a number ten or as a more advanced, playmaking number eight. Still, he has this tendency to create space for himself but also make use of it even when he’s closed down by markers.

In the example below, we can see him control the ball in the final third and send through an incisive pass through the defence before his marker can react and stop him. The ball arrives at its destination perfectly and Dinamo soon get into a really promising situation.

But this is not nearly the only thing Moro does on the pitch. Often, as was seen in the stats above, he participates in the team’s defensive phases. The numbers clearly support this as the youngster averages 4.56 interceptions per game, makes 9.39 recoveries and also wins 52.4% of all of his defensive duels.

These are some impressive figures for an advanced playmaker and both of the aforementioned skillsets complement each other rather well. In other words, Moro can quickly dispossess the opposition and turn defence into attack effectively.

Notice in the example below how he rushes to tackle the opponen, retains possession and then starts Dinamo’s transition with a cheeky backheel right into the path of his teammate.

According to Wyscout’s numbers, this is a regular occurrence in his arsenal, rather than an anomaly.

Moro truly is a true gem that any manager would like to have in his squad. Yes, that is mostly because he is technically gifted and has a high work-rate but it’s also because he can be deployed anywhere across the middle of the pitch. Wyscout notes a total of seven major positions Moro has been used in so far.

That and a quick look at his heatmap tell us how effective he is all across the pitch regardless of his predetermined position on the teamsheet.

Despite being only 21, he already has some national team exposure, having gone through the youth ranks of Croatia’s national team. He recently featured in their U21 European Championship run as well and managed to tally one assist in three games.

Moro certainly is a true prospect and has already been attracting some serious attention from big clubs in Europe. With such talent, a move away from Dinamo Zagreb becomes a triviality and simply a matter of time.

The man already dubbed the “new Modrić” is destined to go abroad and really make a name for himself.

But at the end of the day, that part is really up to him and the way he develops in the future.

Ian Wright sends message to Arsenal youngsters on Instagram

[ad_pod ]

It has been a decent pre-season so far this summer for Arsenal and particularly for the younger crop of Gunners coming in and getting some minutes with the senior side.

The latest challenge saw the north London outfit smoothly sail over Fiorentina as they smashed their opponents 3-0.

And the goal scorers? Eddie Nketiah and Joe Willock, two rising stars that could have a huge role to play at the club if they continue their development in the right way.

Willock has now taken to Instagram to share a snap with another talent, Reiss Nelson.

And of course, the picture soon prompted many of other people to reply and send their best wishes to the duo.

Willock just captioned it as “gang gang” with a heart emoji that followed but others were just a bit more excited.

Ian Wright, an ex-Arsenal player and icon, commented what most of the fans thought anyway, calling the youngsters “the future”.

Of course, there were others there as Nelson replied himself, while Tyreece John-Jules demanded some credit for the photographer.
