Wilfried Zaha once again faces questions about his future at Selhurst Park, Roy Hodgson seemingly has no plans to retire anytime soon, so many senior players are out of contract in the summer – it’s shaping up to be an interesting season at Crystal Palace.

Next year, let alone next season, still seems some way off for the Eagles, who travel to Turf Moor to take on Burnley on Monday night, before facing Newcastle United at home in the same week.

Palace have made a promising start to the season, beating Southampton, Manchester United and Fulham so far this season, although they suffered back-to-back defeats to Everton and Chelsea, as well as Wolves, whilst a dull draw with Brighton in the A23 derby did little to brighten the mood.

But Hodgson’s side bounced back by battering Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United in a 4-1 win at home before the international break which means they are already 10 points clear of the relegation zone. However, Hodgson will still have his work cut out, if recent reports are to be believed.

What’s the story?

According to Football Insider, Palace chairman Steve Parish is currently holding contract talks with Patrick van Aanholt, but these are in danger of imminently collapsing at any moment.

It’s claimed that talks between the two sides have stalled as it looks increasingly likely the left-back will leave the club as a free agent when his contract runs out in the summer, amid interest from an unnamed elite club who are keen to tie him down to a pre-contract agreement in January.

Although Tyrick Mitchell has become a first-team regular starter in recent weeks, Hodgson must convince Van Aanholt to stay at Selhurst Park before it’s too late.

Mentoring can mould Mitchell

There will always be a debate over when it would be the best time to let a senior player leave for pastures news. Palace have been more guilty than most clubs of clinging on to bygone relics from the past for far too long as Christian Benteke arguably should have been sold years ago, but Mitchell can benefit massively by learning from a player who has been there and done it at a decent level of the game.

Van Aanholt, who is currently valued at £7.2m via Transfermarkt, could prove to be an important mentor to the 21-year-old as he has vast levels of Premier League experience, especially when you consider the fact that he won the title during his time at Chelsea. He began his professional career at the Blues but spent several loan spells away from Stamford Bridge before being sold to Sunderland.

Once hailed as a “brilliant” beast by former Premier League striker Alan Shearer, the 30-year-old has scored 14 goals and supplied 5 assists in over 100 games for the Eagles in all competitions.

In 29 appearances in the Premier League season, the Netherlands international bagged three goals and two assists, whilst he made 1.5 tackles, 1.5 clearances and 1.6 interceptions per game, via WhoScored. Whether or not Mitchell will be able to match these statistics remains to be seen but he is on the right track so far, as he is averaging 4 tackles per game in the Premier League so far this season, as per WhoScored.

Given his age, the Palace academy graduate cannot be expected to shoulder the burden alone on the left flank, that’s for sure. Swallow your pride Parish, and get it done, Eagles.

تحدث أيمن عبد العزيز لاعب الزمالك السابق، عن أسباب خسارة الأبيض من الأهلي بخماسية في بطولة الدوري المصري، واختيارات كارلوس كيروش المدير الفني لمنتخب مصر، لقائمة اللاعبين لمباراتي أنجولا والجابون.

وفاز الأهلي على الزمالك بخماسية مقابل 3 أهداف، في المباراة التي جمعت الفريقين على ملعب استاد القاهرة الدولي، ضمن مواجهات الجولة الثالثة من عمر مسابقة الدوري المصري.

وقال أيمن عبد العزيز خلال تصريحات ببرنامج “رقم 10” عبر القناة “الأولى” المصرية: “الثقة الزائدة التي صُدرت للاعبي الزمالك من مواقع التواصل الإجتماعي قبل المباراة كانت ضمن أسباب الهزيمة في القمة، وأيضا من النقاط الهامة التي أدت لهزيمة الفارس الأبيض، هي عدم التحضير الجيد للمباراة كارتيرون اهتم في المباراة بالنواحي الفنية لفريقه وليس بالنواحي الفنية للأهلي، كارتيرون لم يكن في يومه”.

وتابع: “لا يوجد أي تفسر لخسارة الزمالك أمام الأهلي بخماسية، ثقة الزمالك الزائدة قبل القمة سبب الهزيمة الكبيرة أمام الأهلي بخماسية، كارتيرون فوجئ بالطريقة التي لعب بها موسيماني، ولاعبو الأبيض كانوا يضغطون بشكل عشوائي”.

وأضاف: “الأهلي كان بإمكانه تسجيل أهداف أكثر في القمة، ولكن تغييرات مدربه موسيماني أدت لعدم حدوث ذلك في الوقت الذي عدّل كارتيرون خطته ونجح في تقليل فارق الأهداف”.

وواصل: “مصطفى فتحي لاعب كبير ولكن مشاركته وتوقيتها بيد الجهاز الفني، وبالنسبة لي أُفضل تواجد مصطفى كجناح وليس رقم 10 فهو يمتلك المهارة والسرعة كجناح”.

واستكمل: “أشرف بن شرقي هو أحد أفضل المحترفين الذين جاءوا لمصر، وعقده يقترب من النهاية والأمر يُعيد مشكلة ساسي ولكن في النهاية أنت لاعب كرة محترف من حق النادي والجماهير عليك أن تُشارك وتلعب بكل قوتك وهو ليس متخاذلاً”.

وأردف: “بن شرقي لم يكن بنفس القوة قبل أن ينضم للزمالك وكذلك لم يكن متواجدًا بصفوف منتخب بلده”.

وانتقل لاعب الزمالك السابق للحديث عن اختيارات كيروش لقائمة منتخب مصر، قائلا: “في كل مرة يختار المدير الفني للمنتخب، كيروش القائمة تكون هناك تغييرات وهو أمر يدل على أنه يريد رؤية أكثر عدد من اللاعبين وتجربتهم قبل أن يصل للقوام الأساسي”.

كشف المدير الفني للفريق الأول لكرة القدم بنادي باريس سان جيرمان، ماوريسيو بوتشيتينو، عن أزمة قد حدثت مع مهاجميه، نيمار دا سيلفا وكيليان مبابي، بسبب تصريحاته عن ليونيل ميسي.

وخرج بوتشيتينو قبل أيام وتمنى فوز ميسي بجائزة الكرة الذهبية لأنه يستحقها، وهذا ما أزعج الثنائي البرازيلي والفرنسي.

Tottenham Hotspur had reportedly emerged as the front-runners to sign Roma star Nicolo Zaniolo this summer, but that no longer appears to be the case. 

Recent reports have revealed that Jose Mourinho is very keen to sign the wonderkid when the transfer window opens. The Lilywhites had been linked to Zaniolo long before Mourinho took over from Mauricio Pochettino, although it seems they are no further forward in getting him.

According to Fabrizio Romano, as per @Daily_Hotspur, there is currently no chance of Tottenham signing him in the summer.

Spurs have been dealt a huge blow as the Serie A side are refusing to sell one of Mourinho’s top targets. AS Roma boss Paulo Fonseca has made it clear he does not want to sell Zaniolo this summer as he is a part of his plans for the future. While the Italian was on Tottenham’s radar last year, Roma now have no interest in letting him leave.

After arriving at the Stadio Olimpico from Inter Milan for £4m in 2018, he has been touted as one of the best players of his generation having broken through the ranks into the first team and proven to be one of their key players in the process.

The 21-year-old has played 22 games in Serie A this season, scoring five goals, supplying one assist, taking 1.7 shots, averaging one key pass and completing 1.9 dribbles per game on average so far (stats provided by WhoScored).

Roma have even gone so far as to slap a hefty £50m price tag on his head to ward off any potential suitors.

Although it looks as though the Lilywhites have been monitoring Zaniolo for a while, Daniel Levy has insisted that he will not be spending “rivers of money” in the summer.

He would certainly seem to be an ideal signing to make but it is unlikely that he will be anything more than that as Spurs simply cannot afford him at the moment.

By now, we all know the story of Philippe Coutinho’s far from ideal transfer from Liverpool to Barcelona.

The now 27-year-old Brazilian made the big switch to Catalonia but ended up regretting it really quickly. After a rather short spell with the Blaugrana, Coutinho was promptly shipped off on loan to Bayern Munich, where he is currently plying his trade.

And for a short while, life was good in Bavaria and the Brazilian was finally finding his feet.

Unfortunately, that didn’t last as some old flaws came back to light and now, he only has two goals and four assists in 15 games played across all competitions in the current campaign.

Bayern reportedly have a clause that states they can buy the player from Barcelona for €120m (£102.6m) but as things currently stand, only a big improvement in his performances could actually warrant such a price tag.

Of course, we can’t know for sure whether the Bavarians actually plan on activating said clause or not but it’s pretty safe to assume that Coutinho will have to convince them to do so by being an important player in their ongoing campaign. Despite a good start, as we have already stated, he still seems to be far from that at the moment.

But Sport Bild (via Mundo Deportivo) have recently come out with an interesting piece of information that could actually give Barcelona an unexpected boost in this scenario, assuming they still want to get rid of the Brazilian.

The outlet states the now-former Tottenham Hotspur man, Mauricio Pochettino, who was recently replaced by Jose Mourinho, could be heading to Bayern Munich next summer and there, he would reunite with Coutinho.

Of course, they spent some time together back at Espanyol and just recently, The Sun spoke at length about Pochettino being fuming with the board for actually not getting Coutinho to Spurs last summer.

But with the two of them finally meeting once again in Bavaria, the ex-Spurs manager would finally get his man but would have to pay the aforementioned £102.6m clause to get him.

If he was truly so adamant in getting him last summer, he might want to do the same come next summer, only this time, he could get the necessary backing from the board.

This is basically the ideal scenario for Barcelona, who could profit from this Pochettino to Bayern transaction if it were really to happen in the near future.

But a lot of it is still on Coutinho as the player will have to perform well enough to warrant that huge release clause.

Manchester City’s Leroy Sane seemed destined to join Bayern Munich last summer until a serious injury sustained in the Community Shield put all transfer talk on hold.

And even looking beyond such contributions, his impish trickery and intelligence movement would be a huge boon to any side.

Though lacking Sane’s directness and searing pace, Oyarzabal has technical ability to spare while his fondness for cutting in tallies with Pep Guardiola’s penchant for inverted wingers. Providing an aerial threat would also be a significant bonus for a team as small as the reigning champions.

With recent reports in mind, perhaps it’s now time to throw it over to those who know the Basque ballers best.

Evidently, they think the world of him.

In the event of Sane’s departure, City should pay it.

The rapid approach of the January transfer window can only mean one thing: the return of the rumour mill.

There is now just over a month left before clubs across Europe can add to their squads, and there is already plenty of speculation in regards to who could be bought.

In regards to Liverpool, it is no different, with Jadon Sancho and Sander Berge (Radio Punto Nuovo via Goal.com) just two of the names to have been mentioned.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Amine Harit is also attracting the Reds’ attention. The Morocco international, who is 22 years of age, is said to be being monitored by the European champions. He has scored five goals and provided two assists for Schalke in the Bundesliga so far this campaign.

Jurgen Klopp is good friends with Die Konigsblauen’s manager David Wagner, which could work to the Anfield outfit’s advantage.
