West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice has turned down a third contract offer from the Hammers.

That’s according to transfers expert Fabrizio Romano, who tweeted: “Declan Rice has turned down third contract offer at West Ham. There’s still no agreement – Rice has always been committed, but he’s now open to a move this summer. West Ham insist he’s untouchable as David Moyes said – but Declan Rice won’t sign a new deal.”

The 23-year-old is a major asset for David Moyes’ side but now, according to The Mirror, is a target for both Chelsea and Manchester United ahead of a potential summer departure.

Moyes will be fuming

Rice has been subject to heavy speculation for the best part of a year now and the latest update on the Englishman’s future is sure to have left David Moyes fuming.

The 29-cap England star has seriously impressed over the last two seasons with the midfielder being a kingpin for the Irons’ push towards a top-six finish in the Premier League last term, as well as this campaign’s road to the semi-finals of the Europa League.

In that time, the 23-year-old has made 78 appearances for West Ham in all competitions which has seen him promoted to being an England regular, having played in every match of the Three Lions’ run to the final of last summer’s European Championship.

Having now established himself as one of Europe’s most exciting deep-lying midfielders, Moyes stated earlier this month that it will take more than £150m to lure Rice away from east London.

According to SofaScore, the defensive midfielder is the Hammers’ top performer this season with an average match rating of 7.2 in the league.

West Ham’s maestro, who takes the captain’s armband when Mark Noble isn’t on the pitch, averages 74 touches per game as well as producing 0.8 key passes with a sensational 92% passing accuracy.

Moreover, the 23-year-old makes 1.7 interceptions per match, as well as 2.2 tackles and 1.2 clearances, making him a colossus in the middle of the park.

Having come through the youth ranks at the east London outfit, having been released by Chelsea at 14, Rice has quickly become a sensation at the London Stadium ever since making his Hammers debut as an 18-year-old against Burnley in May 2017.

West Indies captain Darren Sammy has said his team is prepared to face the challenges posed by Sri Lanka ahead of the first Test at Galle starting on Monday.”Sri Lanka is a place where lots of runs have been scored. If you look at the last few series played here, the batsmen have scored the runs. It looks like a very good wicket. In Sri Lanka the ball also spins so we have to take that into account and plan accordingly,” said Sammy who will be making his debut as West Indies Test captain.He was disappointed that West Indies were denied much-needed practice out of the three-day game which was washed out by bad weather after the first day, but added, “We put in some good work coming from Barbados and even the opportunities we have got here to practice our guys have worked hard. We are ready to go out there and face the challenges Sri Lankans pose.”Sammy felt the presence of Chris Gayle and Shivnarine Chanderpaul, the only two members of his team to have played Tests in Sri Lanka, gave his side important experience. “They have played here before and we are sharing information and getting as much information as possible to compete well in this series.”We want to play according to our strength. Liverpool are plotting a summer move for West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice, and he could make the perfect partner for Fabinho.

What’s the story?

According to journalist Dean Jones (via GIVEMESPORT) Liverpool are ‘going to be interested’ in Rice when the transfer window opens this summer.

He said: “Of course, they’re going to be interested in Declan Rice because if Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea have had that player on their radar, then you kind of at least have got to consider whether you’re going to need him.”

They are among a number of Premier League clubs who are interested in signing the Englishman to bolster their options in the middle of the park.

The report says that Rice has recently turned down a contract offer at the London Stadium and would be open to a move. However, his contract doesn’t expire for another two years, and the Hammers are said to have the option to extend that by a further year, so he would fetch a high price. The Daily Mail have reported that the club would be asking for a British record £150m fee for him.

Imagine him and Fabinho

Although Liverpool supporters shouldn’t get too excited as they will face stiff competition for his signature, he would be the perfect signing for them and would partner Fabinho extremely well.

Earlier this month it was reported by Football Insider that Jurgen Klopp has his sights set on signing a ‘world-class’ midfielder, and that Rice was on the list of options. With Jones now confirming this, he may be the Reds’ priority, especially when you consider that he’s been described as “world-class” already by reporter Toby Cudworth and many others.

He has been key for West Ham in the league this season appearing 32 times with one goal and four assists from defensive midfield. He also often captains the side when Mark Noble isn’t playing, so has great leadership qualities as well.

The England international ranks in the top 3% amongst Premier League midfielders this season when it comes to his pass completion percentage and the top 2% for interceptions.

Liverpool already have two incredible midfielders in Thiago and Fabinho, if they added a third the team would be complete with a stellar player in every position.

Klopp is famous for the constant pressure he likes his teams to put on their opponent, and Rice would fit perfectly into that. His percentage when it comes to successful pressing this season is 33% which is almost identical to Fabinho’s 32%.

The fact he came through the youth setup at Chelsea may well have an impact on which club he ends up moving to, but the chance to win with Liverpool and play under Klopp must be an attractive option.

Michael Keane (6.6)

Admittedly tied with both Demarai Gray and Anthony Gordon here in terms of rating (6.6), Keane ranks in third here given that the former did not complete the full 90 minutes and the latter showed some promise going forward.

Keane made just one tackle and failed to block any shots on the Everton goal, while his 31 touches were fewer than any outfield Liverpool starter managed. He was also guilty of giving the ball away 12 times, the fifth-most out of his teammates.

Jordan Pickford (6.4)

After conceding two goals, goalkeeper Pickford was given a 6.4 overall rating.

The England international gave away possession cheaply on no fewer than 15 separate occasions from his 26 touches, and he only made two saves in total.

Mason Holgate (6.3)

With a 6.3 rating given, Holgate ranked as the Toffees’ worst player on the day.

The defender lost out on two of his duels and failed to record any interceptions or tackles, also losing possession six times from his mere 16 touches of the ball.
